A lot had happened this year.....i did what I want to do and succeeded.
This year is all about tv work. After spending half a year in theatre last year,I need to channel myself into a different medium.I really love theatre. Some things in life I learn,I learnt it from theatre. The process of manifestation and discovering a character demands you to discover yourself first.
And so I dived into tv work...PCK,Ghost2,Sepuluh,commercials,corporate video etc. What a ride!In Sepuluh,we played soccer almost everyday.During the day scenes, most of us got burnt(some came for shoot the next day with face redder than a lobster). The night scenes were just as taxing. All the way to Kuala Selangor. We left early around 4.30pm to try beat the traffic and reached location around 6.30pm.Dinner,dress up and make up...start shooting at 8.30pm until 3-4am.So who said acting is glamour. You have to be professional and discipline. Its like a sport.Everyone must be on their toes. Its a team work.Any less, you just drag everything down.No one likes to shoot OT.Sometimes,it happens and we just take it in stride.
My wish to attempt the Indoor Cycling was granted.I made it into the Malaysia Book of Records after cycling for 48 hours in total.Well,of course there are breaks...15 mins for every 3 hours, which isnt much.Just enough to go pee and a quick massage.I have to thank my sponsors for supporting me on this one.Seriously I wasnt nervous at all.I was eager and excited.I knew I would last the distance.I have to!The whole event was arranged in a way that I have to finish it.
Checkout my record feat in the next MBR release.
I am also in KLUE,Newicon and Marry Me October 2009 issue.
Now back to reality. After Sepuluh, the team had a few meet up sessions and wrap parties. Now everything is wrapped,I am finally free to choose whatever I wanted to do.My choice is a feature film, get back to stage theatre, more commercials and corporate videos(they are fun to do),martial arts and one thing I've always wanted...entrepreneuer.Yes,business is the way to go.
Anyway whatever I do,I only know of giving my best.Only that will I be satisfied.

MT KK
Climbing Mt KK is really no big deal.Plenty of people have done it.The champion completed it around 2 hours 15 mins(somewhere around there) in a single day.Thats like sprinting up to the peak nonstop. Not surprisingly,he's from Europe where there are plenty of cold weather and hilly mountains.Met a kid on the way up..nice chap who acts more like a 'guide' coz thats his 14th time up there. He's a university student studying in Sabah.Guess there are not many events or many places to hangout, climbing the mountain is like a walk in the park for him.
My journey is more like 7 years in the waiting.Something always crops out in the end. This year aint any different and I sacrificed them all to get this climb done with so that I can move on to something else. And thank goodness, the weather was perfect and the journey went smoothly.
For a first timer,I underestimated the freezing cold weather up there. So used to the warm tropical weather here,I really longed for a freezing time.So smart ass me didnt bring sufficient warm clothings and went ahead.
Stayed a night in downtown Sabah and had outdoor seafood. The price is okay unless you are a foreigner from another country, its advicable to negotiate. They charges 3 x more.
The next day we met up with our agent who drove us to the base of the mountain. The journey up wasnt that bad except for the high altitude sickness. My head was banging all the way and I cant stop thinking of a bowl of spicy laksa.
You can always bring along some food but with your heart thumping so fast,I suggest bringing sweets to suck and glucose for instant energy. The food up there is pricy indeed but after seeing how those workers bring the supplies up there, I dont mind paying for it.
Took a few hours to reach Laban Rata.Common question you always here from many people is-''Are we there yet?''When you know you want to ask that question, actually you are around half an hour or 45 mins near Laban Rata.
Had my first @$%#$^^ stone cold icy bath and it almost gave me a heart attack. The water heater there dont always work.
Activities were minimal. The guide showed us the Ferrata route and after a quick demo,we had our dinner and some tried to sleep early coz the climb starts at 230am ,a time when our body is normally still asleep. It normally rains in the afternoons, thats why.
An hour before the climb, everyone starts preparing....I borrowed the gloves from the guide. What the hell was I thinking...gym gloves?Of course I didnt have any warm clothing,so I wrapped the blanket from the sleeping bag around me.That actually helps. And a bandana to stop my head from banging.
Its no use to reach the top so early. Why?Well, unless you want to be frozen up there,be my guest. The sun only starts to rise around 530am anyway.Enjoy the climb instead.Stop awhile to look at the stars..I havent seen that many stars in my whole life before. And dont play hero....follow the track and let others go first if you are in need of a break.
Of all animals up at the peak, you can find rats up there.I was too freezing cold to bother about that.I could feel my sweat turned to ice.
Once the sun is up,we get to savour the view and everyone just switch on to cam-whore mode.I was kinda hesitative to do Ferrata after seeing the photos on the net but if your partner in-crime is a lady, well, buckle up.It wasnt that bad.Glad we made it early coz it started to drizzle on the way back and thats the worse thing..you wont want to get caught under the rain..a waterfall would form right in the middle of 2 adjoining mountains and thats the route everyone have to pass through.
Our journey downhill is more like a catch-up game with 2 Japanese,1 who look like a 60 year age group, the other much younger. They walk fast!It was raining and the slippery trail doesnt help along with the pounding of the knees.Only way is to try a variety of walking styles..sideways,linear..whatever but not backwards.
Would I do this again?Yeah, joining the Mt KK Climbathon sounds good.Would look into that.
